Health, Safety & Environment Test Price Increase
The cost of the Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) Test, which is required to obtain the majority of CSCS cards, has increased by £2 to £19.50 from 1 September 2015.
The HS&E Test is owned and run by CITB, which has increased the price for the first time in 10 years following a review of the HS&E Test. This was commissioned as a result of the changes to the CDM Regulations earlier this year to ensure that the question bank remained fit for purpose. The price of a CSCS card remains unchanged at £30.
To apply for or renew a CSCS card, you must have the appropriate construction-related qualification and training and, in most cases, have passed the appropriate HS&E Test within the previous two years.
CSCS cards provide a simple and consistent way of demonstrating proof of competence and it is important that you and your workforce have the right cards for the jobs you are undertaking on site. Deciding which card is the right one for an individual depends on the type of work they do, how experienced they are and their qualifications or membership of professional bodies.
To ensure your operatives hold the right CSCS cards, you can use the Build UK Guide to CSCS Cards. It provides a unique one-page guide to the scheme which enables employers to identify the right cards for their workforce whatever their level.
You can find out more about the HS&E Test and book online via the CITB website.
