CIJC Confirms Increased Pay Rates

The Construction Industry Joint Council (CIJC) has published an updated Working Rule Agreement setting out increases in the industry pay rates from the end of June.

In accordance with the two and a half year settlement effective from January 2014, basic pay rates will increase by 3% from Monday 29 June 2015. This will be the final increase under the current deal which will expire in June 2016.

The hourly rates cover general operatives, skilled and craft workers, and apprentices. For apprentices in the second or final year of training who are aged 21 or over, the National Minimum Wage must apply. This is currently £6.50 per hour for someone aged 21 or over and will increase to £6.70 per hour from 1 October 2015.

Taxed travel allowance will also increase by 3% in line with the pay rates and the non-taxed lodging allowance will increase by 0.9% to £35.32 per night in line with the March 2015 RPI.

Industry sick pay increases to £115.00 per week which is in addition to Statutory Sick Pay but only payable for a maximum of 10 weeks.

Details of all the new CIJC rates can be viewed on the NSCC website.
