Changes to Statutory Payments from 1 April 2018
From April 2018, there will be a rise in the statutory rates for maternity pay, paternity pay, shared parental pay, adoption pay and sick pay.
With effect from 1 April 2018 statutory maternity, adoption, paternity and shared parental pay will rise from £140.98 to £145.18, and the weekly rate for the first 6 weeks will be 90% of the employee’s average weekly earnings.
Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) will also increase from £89.35 to £92.05.
National Minimum Wage
The revised National Minimum wage rates will also increase from April 2018. These increases for each age range are shown below:
Age Range | Rates per hour |
25 years and over | From £7.50 to £7.83 |
21 – 24 years | From £7.05 to £7.38 |
18 – 20 years | From £5.60 to £5.90 |
16 – 17 years | From £4.05 to £4.20 |
Apprentices aged under 19 or in the first year of their apprenticeship to increase | From £3.50 to £3.70 |
