London Skills Strategy has been launched – find out how to get involved
Earlier this year, the Mayor’s Construction Academy (MCA) programme was launched following the Mayor’s pledge in his manifesto to establish a construction academy scheme with the housebuilding industry to close the gap between the housing targets and the need for more skilled workers.
The Mayor of London has now launched the London Skills Strategy. As part of this, the Mayor announced the list of construction skills providers who have successfully applied for the Mayor’s Construction Academy Quality Mark.
The Mayor also announced that applications are now being invited for Stage 2 of the MCA development process where revenue funding is being made available through the GLA to support the coordination of a network of MCA hubs. The deadline for applications is Friday 20 July 2018.
More information about the application process for becoming an MCA hub can be found here.
The Greater London Authority (GLA) are also holding a market warming event on Tuesday 19 June 2018 for organisations who are either looking to lead or be a partner in an MCA hub application. This includes providers, employers and industry stakeholders. Tickets for the market warming event and will be allocated on a first come first served basis and will be limited to one per organisation. You can register your interest online by Thursday 14 June 2018.
