Using Technology to attract more young people into Construction

MyKindaFuture has been working closely with the industry and have created ‘connectr’ a learning and communications platform designed to attract, engage and guide more young people into construction and engineering roles.

The platform is a bespoke, cloud-based, learning and engagement tool which is helping to redefine the candidate experience and is a finalist for Best Digital Initiative in HR and Learning & Development at the CIPD People Management Awards 2017.

Connectr can help businesses to get ahead of two key trends in the construction industry – drop-out rates and competition for talent. Both of these continue to be a challenge for the industry, with the average rate of 7.5% of graduates dropping out in the run up to their first day. The average cost of one drop out is between £1,000 and £5,000, which places a strain on resourcing. Competition for recruiting top talent has increased in recent years, driven by the launch of the apprenticeship levy and a growing focus on diversity and inclusion within the workplace.

Last year connectr helped Skanska to improve and personalise their candidate experience, reducing dropout rates by 35%, and saving over £14,000 in rehiring costs.
