Build UK Promotes Construction with Sunday Times
Build UK was recently featured as a Research Partner in a Sunday Times special report on construction to showcase the wide range of career opportunities within the industry.
The Easter edition of Raconteur, which has a readership of 1.6 million, included the Future of Construction report with a dedicated feature from Build UK on the importance of recruiting and retaining the next generation of the construction workforce to deliver the range of projects required across the UK.
Build UK has identified the image of construction as a key issue and is focused on inspiring young people and those looking for a change of career to choose construction in its bid to win the ‘war for talent’. We launched a new film, ‘Get into Construction’, at our first major event in March at the iconic ‘Cheesegrater’ in London to raise awareness of the diverse and exciting range of opportunities available in construction.
Build UK will also be running a revitalised Open Doors initiative in partnership with Go Construct from Monday 13 to Saturday 18 June 2016, providing an exclusive opportunity for people to take a look behind the scenes of a range of fantastic ‘live’ construction sites across the UK.
Build UK Chief Executive Suzannah Nichol, who was quoted by the Raconteur, said:
“Anyone seeking a future career, a challenge or a change of direction is missing a trick if they don’t take a look at what the construction industry has to offer. A can-do attitude along with a willingness to learn and a desire to do your best are the core skills required. If nothing else, my career in the industry has taught me one thing: whatever you are into, get into construction – you won’t regret it”.
